Tom’s education came not in a classroom, but at the car auctions of his native Glasgow. In 1973, at the age of just 12, he sold his first car – a Range Rover – and began his incredible journey. A journey which would soon take him across the border into England, where he set up his Derbyshire base in 1980.

Today, Tom and his son Carl’s family homes and showrooms stand within the 40-acre Hartley countryside estate. A testament to the unparalleled enterprise, experience, and expertise which has seen the name become synonymous with the supercar market.

The Tom Hartley name has been widely documented by global media. Over the years his work has been recognised by The Sun and Financial Times papers, as well as Top Gear and Bloomberg, who all acknowledge his definitive name in prestige cars. Recent recognition by The London Stock Exchange, as a ‘company to inspire Britain’, has led to a nomination for the Queens Award.
